Project info
The Museum of History & Culture was designed for the local cultural municipality with a mission to showcase the rich heritage and traditions from across Saudi Arabia. Built on the site of an abandoned park, the project transforms the land into a new public space — blending architecture and nature to create a meaningful community experience. The museum brings together archaeological pieces and historical artefacts in a contemporary setting. While the function is classic, the form is bold and modern — featuring open spaces, glass structures, and seamless integration with the natural landscape.

Challenge
One of the main challenges was sourcing and recreating museum-quality artefacts that authentically reflect Saudi culture. We also invested significant time experimenting with various materials — stone, tile, and texture — to ensure that surfaces felt both realistic and visually engaging. The second challenge was creating a genuine “museum” atmosphere while allowing natural light and the surrounding environment to shape the interior experience. Since the building is largely transparent, presenting sunlight in a natural and inviting way was especially important to the client.
